      Products & Services COURSE VALIDATION: (Australian National Training Authority.) The following units of competency, which may be covered in the course are recognised by ANTA under the National Community Recreation Industry Training Package. - SRC AQU 001B - SRC AQA 002B - SRC AQA 004B - SRX OHS 001B Subsequently, students successfully completing the course may also be eligble for RPL (recognition of prior learning), in the above units when undertaking additional courses such as Certificate 1 and 2 Aquatics, NSW TAFE, and equivalent management courses in WA, QLD and VIC. TOPICS COVERED IN THE COURSE: - The Public and Environmental Health Acts and Regulations in all States. - Microbiological aspects of swimming pool water treatment. -Defining terms. - Workplace OH&S (Aquatic Environment). - Circulatin, filtratin and disenfection. - Ozone treatment. - Ultraviolet treatment. - pH and total alkalinity. - Breakpoint chlorination and water replacement. - Pool pollution and algae control. - Maintenance. - Amenities. TERMINAL OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE: - Define terms and technical data associated with pool operation. - Explain current functioning of circulation and filtration systems. - Operate a variety of water disenfection systems. - Maintain water clarity. - Conduct water testing as specified under the standards. - Undertake water replacement as specified under the standards.- Perform routine maintenance as specified under the standards. - Ensure amenities are kept clean in accordance with the standards. - Provide an appropriate chemical balance of pool water. - Have an inspection criteria for pool equipment and facilities. - Understand pool water treatment and breakpoint chlorination. - Be aware of typical pool pollutants. - Understand the tables associated with the standards. - Be conversant with the operation and maintenance of swimming pools, spas, water slides and hydrotherapy pools in accordance with the standards and requirements under the public and environmental health acts in all States and Territories.
